The elected system Tla-o-qui-aht follows is comprised of a 11 Councillors and 1 Chief Councillor. This body serves a 4 year term to office.

Chief & Council have regular duly convened meetings to conduct the needs and services of the Tla-o-qui-aht Nation. Chief and Council work very closely with the Tribal Administrator to maintain the vision, and mandate of this elected leadership.

Together these two systems plan, strategize, analyze, policies, procedures, and projects. After which the Administration handles implementing and operation thereof.
